So Greg and I finally got serious about food storage and have spent a good chunk of our tax return on food. This includes a wheat grinder and 800 lbs of wheat. Yes 800 lbs is alot of wheat!! Just ask Greg, he had to lug it all downstairs to the storage room. I am including a pic of some of the food we have purchased in the last few weeks. Notice all of the cannery cans. We have spent several hours there this past week. It's a pretty sight.
Now for the best news of all! I attempted making my first EVER homemade wheat bread yesterday. I ground the wheat and used the wonderful recipe Maria Fox taught in her class a couple of weeks ago.
The bread turned out awesome!! My family thinks I am amazing, as you can see in the picture. The only bad part is now they think I will be making wheat bread all the time. Who knows maybe I will. It sure makes me feel like Martha!!!

Are you kidding me? Look at you! Your bread is beautiful!
I sure as heck hope that I can get to your house if there is an emergency! :)
Love you and love your blog!!
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Maria's bread recipe. It's the best wheat bread I have tried. I need to get out some of our wheat and grind it and make a loaf sometime soon. YUM!
Oh my goodness you are amazing! Your food storage is amazing. Maria's recipe is wonderful and now I'm making it every week. We can't stand eating store bought bread anymore. My family is spoiled now (well I am too! I've gained about 5...OK almost 10 pounds in the last 2 weeks from eating so much homemade bread!) Maria has really started a great thing! Can't wait to get my grinder so I can start making my OWN flour!
That is a pretty sight! Your storage looks so organized!
You are my hero! Everyday, I'm going to do food storage and well, my fruit room is still empty! Your blog is so cute. Thanks for telling me about it!
YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!
One day, when the world is truly amok, and chaos reigns supreme, we will all be 'regular' happy little campers with our gobs of wheat!
